NARS Haul and a Mini Mac

Some new NARS goodies to play with~! and one MAC item that got away

MAC's Ever Hip and NARS Mayflower (Spring 2011)

I missed out on MAC's Ever Hip during the Liberty of London Collection, because I hated the collection's packaging, and I was not fully into make up during this collection. AHH complete mistake, on missing out on Shell Pearl (that's for another day)

In consolation, I just purchased MAC's Ever Hip, which is part of the "Fashion Flower" collection

Ever Hip is described as peachy orange and is very reminiscent to Jazzed from the "In the Groove collection"

For an excellent comparison, please see Justine's amazing post on the two

I own both, and can 100% see what Justine means, but I don't mind having both in my collection

Mayflower is one the new Spring 2011 items from NARS
Described as a sheer raspberry, this color is very wearable for day. One of the colors you apply without a mirror, and rush out the door with. It has a very very fine shimmer. Not chunky nor glittery

New NARS stuff!!

Eye shadow Duo Dogon (Spring 2011)

As soon as I heard the description of this duo I had to get it!

It was hard to pick up on camera but the left side is a taupe with extremely fine green shimmer
It is not as dark nor intense as MAC's Club eye shadow, and with a taupe background.
I'm sorry, doesn't that insanely perfect/beautiful??
Taupe with micro fine green shimmer?? Yes please!

The right shade looks more like a dark blue black but is a charcoal.

I have easily applied the taupe all over the lid with the charcoal as a liner for day, for night, smudge out the liner, and add a bit of the charcoal on the lower lash line, add black khol, and voila! super simple smoky eye!

I am really loving this duo!

Blushes

Ahh my NARS blushes are definitely growing...these two I have been lemming for a while, and recently purchased them

L-R: Oasis and Madly (Less Dark in real light)

Oasis is described as a sparkling pink Champagne
To me it's quite a pretty pink mauve color. It is quite glittery, but I avoid the disco ball effect by applying this with a dual fiber brush to lessen the effect of the glitter

Madly is described as a seashell Pink
I dont see pink in this at all. I have under the tricky Sephora lighting, swatched this numerous times. Sometimes I can see pink, sometimes I cant. To me it looks like a less glittery, but more pigmented Trace Gold by MAC

I have semi dupes of each of these shades, but the swatches were not extremely clear

Oasis is reminiscent to MAC's Warm Soul, but Warm Soul is more pink, less mauve, and lighter
Madley reminds me of MAC's Happy Together from in the Groove. Happy Together is definitely more peach toned and shimmery.

I think I was attracted to these two NARS blushes because Happy Together, and Warm Soul are some of my go to blushes, so this fits easily with the type of colors I like on my complextion

Swatches
L-R
Dogon, Oasis, Madley, Mayflower, Ever Hip

Are you picking up any items from the NARS and MAC Collections?

  1. All so pretty! Especially the eyeshadows and oasis blush :D I haven't been too interested in any of the recent mac collections (except for the sakura blush but I decided to pass on it :\ I hope I don't regret it in the future).

  4. Nice haul! I've been meaning to try NARS eyeshadows but they are pretty pricey. I have NARS Madly and I have been using it during winter here, it's a nice alternative to a bronzer for lighter skin tones :) It's one of my favs!

  7. I love the look of Dogon (the taupe especially) & Madly! Although I always thought Madly was more of a brown shade as opposed to golden! Have never swatched it though.

  8. holy moly at nars haul! Oasis sounds very pretty, and looks pretty! I was expecting Madly to be more pink when it's described at shell pink..but it looks like it would make a lovely alternative to bronzers.

  9. Madly is on my list! I have swatched it several times in Sephora and adore it! It needs to be mine, it kind of reminds me of MAC beauty powder blush in ...I cannot think of the name, I will check it when I get home! And Ever Hip is stunning. So glad it was repromoted! Great haul girl!

  12. It such a shame that we don't have Nars in Belgium. I always wanted to try the Ever Hip lipstick, but I don't know I'm still wondering if I should get that one or the Vegasvolt one. Yeah my budget is kinda tight unfortunately :'(

  13. no NARS ? booo i know they are not everywhere unfort. Eve Hip and NARS you may be able to find online and have it shipped but i know I would want to see it in person before buying it. Vegas volt is nice for summer

  14. Which one suits better Asian skintone (I'm pretty pale but I still got that yellow tint? haha) between Vegasvolt and Ever Hip ?

  15. i think Vegas Volt suits me a bit better color wise but in terms of wearableness Ever Hip is more of a day friendly color. VV is a bit more daring, and seems only appropriate in summer when not at work, I hope that helps! theyre both very pretty though!
