My Top Shelf

Lately my favorite new blog to read is Into The Gloss, especially their Top Shelf category! The newest entry shows Emily's make up routine, and I have re re read that I don't know how many times!

So, I thought you guys already know pretty much all about my make up, time to show my Top Shelf in Skin Care

These are all the items I currently use on my skin on and off.

I have a drawer full of new skin products to try out later on in the year but here are my current products. I am quite into skin care, if it was not clear - I don't know what you guys hold, this may be little to some, but skin care to me is important.

If your skin looks good, your make up is going to look good, period.

Unlike make up, I am pretty experimental in my skin care, and constantly switch out products. I rarely re purchase anything. This curiosity many people have pointed out, may be the reason why my skin is quite sensitive, but I really don't care.

I've tried so many brands, from Clean and Clear to Chanel. I treat them all with equal interest and hope. I am not brand loyal in this department.

There seems to be an obsession with me and finding HG skin care products. The journey continues

  1. Great post, I love the big and clear pictures of your top shelf products. haha I'm into skin care too and agree it is the base for makeup looking good,. You have so many lovely products and a wide variety of labels, nice. ^^ Def. an obsession for me too.

  2. Oh my gosh!!! I see your tweets about using a lot of skin products...but I didn't think it was this much!!! I like to switch it up a lot when it comes to skin care. I find that by keeping my skin guessing what I'm going to do helps keep it clear. I find that drug store skin care does the trick to cleaning well, but when it comes to lotions and sun screen for the face I like higher end stuff. It may not be better...but I feel better putting them on my skin, hoping that the ingredients are better for my skin. It may not be, but that's the hope. I agree that good looking skin is key! Great post.

  3. is this alot?? hahahaha I always thought it was so so... when I saw the Top Shelf of the women in the website I felt SO MUCH BETTER bc they had just as much stuff! and more $ stuff! haha I dont use all this at once lol, the very first pic is my current skin care routine, and the rest are things I use less often outside sunscreen and eye cream.
I think for acne drugstore is the way to go!!!! everything else, I pick and choose btw high end and drugstore. I have noticed many drug store items are becoming quite expensive, so I am seeing less difference!

  4. Hiya! yup def not brand loyal in this department. If it works, it works, and I will continue to buy it. If it happens to be 6.99 and on sale, the better! =D

  7. I used to not really pay attention to skin care, but I'm slowly becoming obsessed! How do you like the origins ginzing eye cream?

  8. the eye cream for me is not that special, it's not BAD but I really dont know why it get's as much hype as it does, I will not be repurchasing

  11. I really love experimenting with skincare as well but I try not to spend too, too much. I rarely repurchase anything as well because I don't think I've ever had a skincare product that WOWed me enough. I do like Lush's Tea Tree Water (toner) but its quite pricey and it's more refreshing than actually toning.... I see that you have a bottle of witch hazel and I was thinking about buying a bottle to tone my oily skin. What are your thoughts on witch hazel? :)

  12. Yes, not too products wow me either, which is unfortunate so there is quite a bit of trial and error. That is a new bottle of witch hazel i just opened today, but in the photo in the back ( not shown) is Dickenson's witch hazel which is a more well known brand. WH is excellent for sensitive and acne prone skin as it is extremely gentle, it reminds me very much of Lush Tea Tree Water ( which i do like and have repurchased once lol) only in a non spray form. Dickenson's witch hazel may be a nice cheaper alternative ( but I warn u, it does have an odor...)

  13. Lovely post! It's always nice to get a peek inside a fellow bloggers (fill in the blank: purse, closet, drawer, collection, vanity etc.) It's nice to see I'm not the only one that seems to obsessively try skin care ... my skin is so sensitive, yet I'm always tempting fate by looking for the next best thing!

  14. wow! you have so many brands! skincare is really overwhelming to me...there is just so much out there and i always wonder if the more expensive the treatment = the best. i really want to try out skinceuticals but it is just so darn expensive. same goes for dermalogica and murad. i have tried mario badescu buffering lotion which i find is pretty good for spot treatment. i would ask what your faves are but since you switch out all the time it sounds like your favorites are fickle!

  16. I love skincare just as much as makeup! Love experimenting.. Trying out everything.. A lot of the brands you have I've tried.. A lot I wanna try! Great collection! Thanks for sharing.. It's always nice to see what others are using =P

  17. Yup! IRS weird but so interesting to see into another person's beauty world! I have sensitive skin too but I still takes risks bc an HG product may be found next!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yup, absoltley right! I don't have many faves, which is a bad thing, haha look at all I'm trying hahah
I have always wanted to try dermologica which is on my list! Murad, I have tried some of their acne items and found them incredibly drying!! I personally think if acne is your main concern, drugstore all the way! The audience for brands like clean an clear and nuetrogena focus their research on acne and problematic skin. Higher end brands target older women who can afford their products regularly so it's usually more anti aging

  19. Haha me and u don't give up! If u ever find an HG, plz share!! I'll prob try t!! Hehe

  20. Yay for beauty lovers!! I know I have tried so many brands and still have a laundry sized list of more I want to try hahah, will we ever be cured?? ;)

  21. Haha I was wondering the same thing. Damn! I wonder what I would purchase from Origins that will actually wow me.

  22. Hi! I am a new reader and I love your blog!:)

I really agree with you that good skin care is most important - on days my skin looks a little worse, I don't even feel like putting on makeup just because my mood also takes a beating. :(

Dr Bronners (rose) has been my HG cleanser for the past 2 years, it helped in whitening too! and I was surprised to see a For Beloved One packaging amidst your products! I am currently using its Hyaluronic Acid Molecules Moisturizing Serum and I love it!

Just had to respond becase I always get excited when I see products I love getting featured lol:)

  23. Same here! Although, I don't test skin care nearly as much as I test new makeup. I (knock on wood) haven't had too many skin issues to worry about so far and so, my interest in skin care is limited to: 1- preventing aging and 2- making my skin feel soft and clean. That said, I am testing out that line from TBS that you love and and am liking it so far. I tend to be a re-purchaser in the cleanser department, and have found my HG moist. in the DDF one that I love so much. :) Thanks for giving us a sneaky-peak into your skin care, it's epic! ;)

  24. hello! thanks so much for coming to read my blog and it sounds like you are enjoying!!! I really enjoy Dr Bronners but have yet to use his products on my face! I bought the one i the picture for my face for later to try! Rose sounds very pretty!
Awww my when my skin is bad i do wear less make up too and barely use any concealer, i think it just looks 10x worse and cakey if you try to cover it up - I made that mistake all throughout high school YIKES!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ahh that DDF everytime I pass by DDF I look for that moisturizer bc i know you love it so much. I am pretty positive I will be trying it one of these day! I hope TBS stuff works for you! I am just too curious to try everything in the skin care world, thats why at the end of the month you see so many bottles of skin care and I dont know if anyone noticed, but very few repeats! haha

  26. wow you have a big skin care "collection" there!! I may use half the amount :P not every interesting LOL. I really like to keep mine simple as I don't like experimenting with my skin care unless I branch out to new products after finishing a product.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I strongly believe investing in skin care is way more worth it than investing in make up. If you don't have at least a reasonable canvas to work with, the is no $100 foundation that will give you porcelain skin. I looooove seeing other people's skin care routines and products so thanks for this! haha xx
