It's Growing

Though I have many MAC lipsticks for some reason, I have never been a fan of just about all the formulas. The cream sheens are ok...but I'm just there for the incredible amount of colors they stock, but lately I have been sneaking over to another counter

Estée Lauder may own MAC, but in terms of lipstick formula's, the mother brand seems to know what they are doing
Moisturizing, and long lasting on me. The Matte's stay put without being as drying as other brands. If not a matte, the shine effect is present with a semi glossy finish

I always grew up thinking Estée Lauder was more for "mature" women. I don't think I fall into that exact category yet, but in the recent seasons they have been amping up their game, to make their collections more appealing for a larger range of ages

They're packaging is very pretty, but it's not sleek in my opinion. It's still very "mature" but I do love the fact that the color is shown on the bottom! If I have a few of these in my bag, I can easily grab the one I am looking for

My collection so far
Clockwise from the top: Crystal Baby (Crystal Creme), Passion Fruit (Crystal Shimmer), Red Velvet (Matte), N*de Velvet (Matte)

Red and N*de Velvet are Limited Edition shades for the Fall

I picked these up because I had slowly been seeing them make way into some of my favorite blogs and channels. Crystal Baby seems to be a favorite of the Youtuber and blogger Pixi2woo.
Red Velvet was featured numerous times on the fashion blog of Natalie Off Duty. N*de Velvet has reached current favorite lipstick status, on A Model Recommends, and Passion Fruit the SA told me was just an overall popular color.

Left - Right: N*de Velvet , Crystal Baby, Passion Fruit, Red Velvet

N*de Velvet: Peachy n*de!!! not white n*de! amazing warm color
Crystal Baby: Reminds me of a less pink version of MAC Hue
Passion Fruit: a more red and slight shimmer version of NARS Dolce Vita
Red Velvet: Classic matte red, not dark/vampy, more bright juicy red without the shine

Do you have any Estée Lauder Lipstick favorites? I currently have my eye on the shade Melon...

On a last note, I am a bit late in this, but for those who celebrate

Happy Autumn Moon Festival!!

What's your favorite flavor? Mine is white lotus paste! Prettiest name also! =)

  1. I don't have any Estee Lauder makeup but the chairman of Estee Lauder, Leonard Lauder (his parents created the company), went to my high school and I got a chance to hear him speak to a group of us kids (this was still when I was still in highschool). In the hour or so that I heard him speak, he seemed like a really intelligent man so I'm not surprised that you love their lipsticks :D I totally get what you mean by the "mature" image though and I wish they had cuter, sleeker packaging. It'd totally make me more excited to purchase their products.

  2. I've been wanting to try Crystal Baby for ages! I just tried my very first Estee Lauder lipstick recently, from the new Sensuous Rouge range, and I love it already.

  3. Thanks for the review and swatches! I like the packaging but agree it reminds me of a more mature approach. Passion Fruit looks gorgeous and very wearable. I sadly don't have an Estee Lauder lipsticks, only their foundation. Thinking about venturing more into the brand, they have pretty designs on their seasonal products.

  5. Love the nude velvet!! I just got a white nude lip pie and it's to hard to wear. Peachy is awesome! I really likemhow the color is reflected in the bottom. Very handy. Estee lauder Corp. has so many good brands... Bobbi, Mac, clinique, la mer, smashbox.... Kinda crazy

  6. I think you just sold me on these. But they seem a bit... expensive? I know it's not much more than MAC but you know it seems like a big step!

  7. Estee Lauder currently has a Gift with Purchase at Macy's if that helps compensate the costs =)

  10. Yes! they do, I am kicking myself for not purchasing that star goddess bronzer and recently their modern mercury highlight powder i was on the fence on...but yes the packaging is not sleep more towards elegant. How are their foundations? I have tried a bit of their skin care with semi success

  14. I would so wear all those lip shades~ I really like the swatch of Nude Velvet. I used to have one of EL's lipstick in Vanilla Truffle and it was one of my faves! The texture was so smooth and non-drying. Your post wants me to go check out more of their shades =D

  18. I love Nude Velvet. When I swatched it, I thought it looked exactly like Shu Uemura's Darling Beige matte lippie. I just happened to have the Shu in my bag at the time, so I pulled it out to compare - total dupes! Otherwise, I definitely would've bought it - it looks gorgeous!

  21. I couldn't agree more. I have lots of Mac l/s, I've tried also even the most expensive l/s like YSL and Chanel but nothing compares to Estee Lauder's lipsticks. I have Crystal Baby for more than 6 years it's my HG shade and texture, not I have to repurchase because it's finished and I'll definetely check the newest shades too.

  22. these look so pretty! Crystal baby is probably my favorite. I love Pixi2woo too!

  23. EL does have that "mature" lady vibe, even now... but I have to say their lipsticks are probably the most luxurious in feel on the lips of any I've ever tried.

  24. Ooh, I didn't know ES owned MAC. Interesting~ I haven't tried any of their lippies, but the swatches look great!

    hehe, mooncakes!

  25. I'm like you. I still associate Estee Lauder to older women, but their recent stuff looks so impressive!

I've been eying that Nude Velvet. Glad to hear you love them! Now I must remember to go out and swatch it.

  26. Ohhh thanks Jessica for this info. I found Darling Beige to be too light on me unfortunately. :( I think I can wear it with a bit of a gloss.. maybe.
