Because I Refuse

I don't know what it is about me. I don't need any more lip gloss but constantly get more, but when I have things in my routine I actually use daily and need, I just refuse to buy another, if I am trying to finish an already existing opened product

Here are a few current things in my everyday routine that I am seriously just struggling with, and have refused to budge to newer products

1. The Laura Mercier Eye Basics: I just stopped using this lately. That's the truth. This just does not keep my eye shadows on, and I really regret buying this. I would LOVE to re purchase my former NARS eye primer, but I just won't... not until this one is done. At this rate, it's not going anywhere...

A former comparison review can be found here!

2. Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer: This is actually not bad. I just want to finish it because I have other concealers in my collection that are better. This is ok for the price but does not last all day on my skin even with a primer. I think they are discontinuing this also? I keep seeing it under the
"It's Gotta Go" Sign.
The packaging looks grubby because I have been carrying it around for touch ups

3. MAC's Bare Study Paint Pot: My current eye base. Both this and Laura Mercier creases on me so I might as well use the one closer to being complete. I have not purchased a paint pot in years and probably will not again, unless an INCREDIBLE color comes out because these take YEARS to finish.
(Well at least mine)
It's getting quite dry and tugging on my lid. I can make the product smooth again but tissuing off the exterior layer in the product but that's a waste
These seriously take time to finish...

And then, the product currently giving me the most frustration

4. Kevin Beauty Maker Aqua Eye concealer: I purchased this because Fuzkittie stated this was her HG. An HG!! so I purchased it and I feel different...

This product is quite creamy...a bit too creamy like the new Bobbi Brown versions. It's very pigmented, but the texture is throwing me off. My eye shape has a natural crease under each eye. This concealer is always getting stuck in that crease, which I understand is not the product's fault but this is where the issue lies.
I have used the same under eye powder to set my concealer for years. With this product, because of it's texture I HAVE to powder, or it will slide off. Now strangely enough, if I over apply powder (and I mean just barely 1 sweep) this concealer completely dries up and creates patches of flaky skin under the eyes!! ugh!!! If I don't powder enough, it just slides off.

I don't know...I have been using this for a few weeks after I dug it out from my collection but this might just end up in the "Donate to Friends Box"

Are there are any products you just refuse to budge on?

  1. For some insane reason (even though I love it) I can't seem to purchase the Make up forever foundation at 42.00. I mean it would go bad before I could actually use it all. I am now thinking of just getting samples of it every time I go to the mall -haha

  2. I'm trying to use up the myriad of foundation samples that I have amassed recently (it takes me a LONG time to finish up little samples....) as well as older full sized ones. I'm trying to stick to using the same eyeshadows day to day to try and finish some stuff up so I can buy more.... But really, it's a lot easier to add to the stash rather than to actually use it all up >.< I hate wasting money by giving/throwing stuff away. I usually only give away makeup if I really hate it and won't use it and if it's potentially usable by someone else. If it's just straight up garbage (which is quite rare) I'll bin it.

  3. I hate those LM Eye Basics too. They do nothing to keep your shadow on. I admire you trying ti make these things work-I don't have the patience! I end up donating or passing them along.

  4. really? if i LOVE it i think i would get it. Not use it until I was done with myself but hold it haha. I actually gave that foundation away!!

  5. I give away make up periodically
It's not that i hate them but i dont love them and i have enough in my collection to hold me down that i dont need products im MEH about. Least i can do it donate them so they can have some love somewhere. I may do a sale again though...though blog sales are ALOT of work IMHO

  6. hahahaha i feel like im just going to just check this under eye concealer. The under eye im so dissapointed in...DRATS, eye primer is not exactly the most fun thing to buy, but i need it!

  7. I have a crease too under my eyes! I thought that I was the only one LOL! But I use Bobbi Brown's creamy concealer and it doesn't crease =D However, not a single liner holds on my lower lashline. Makeup are so hard to use up, especially the ones that doesn't work. I loose patience very quickly but before giving it away or throwing it in the bin, I always give a second chance some times later. Most of the time, it's the same verdict that comes back haha. Have you thought about swapping with other bloggers?

  8. I do this too! I also have a "donate to family/friends box". My cousin and I actually swap stuff and she hated her NARS Turkish Delight lipgloss and happily have it too me!!:)

  10. welcome!!!!!!! i hope you enjoy the posts!!

  11. oh that's so good!!!! most of my friends and family are not into make up!! they think my house is sephora lol

  12. yup natural crease! all my concealers crease right away so i have to scratch it out before i leave hahaha that sounds gross
Eyeliner does not stay on me too bc my top lashline overlaps the lower one so it leaves marks! argh so many issues! i have to use gel liner or liquid liner to line my upper lash line and i have to only do the center, i cant go all the way to the corners bc it just overlaps and leaves me with racoon eyes!
I have swapped with other bloggers before, it's fun

  13. Me too! I have that crease too!

LittoMokaa -- don't you find the BB concealer transfers easily? Do you set it with powder?
LilLady'sLife -- what is *your* HG concealer? Do you have one?

  14. My favorite under eye concealer so far has been the Dior lifting sculpting concealer in shade 2, but i have been curious to try the one from By Terry unfort the price is kinda nuts...

  15. Nop the BB concealer doesn't transfer in my case. I use the powder that comes with it and pat it on with a fluffy blending brush :)

  16. Have you tried Stila Waterproof liquid liner? This is my absolute HG and I'm using my 3rd or 4th one right now haha. I tightline my upper lash line with this and I swear it's so pigmented and stays all day! I don't want to use this on my lower waterline because it's way too black!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I have not but have heard amazing things about it. Usually i just use my gel liner bc i want to use it up, but i have so many back up liners from Japan. Once those are finally done, i will try the Stila hehe

  18. I am also on makeup ban as I am trying to finish up some products. And MAC bare study is also on my list. I find that if you use your nails and scrub off a bit then warm it up between your fingers, it won't be as drying.

  19. Thanks for the tip! i will be sooo happy when it's finished! lol

  20. Oooh, I have that under eye crease thing going on as well. So irritating to find concealer lodged in there after I'm done my makeup! Sometimes, because I have very oily lids, I'll even find some eyeliner!

My lids are also like yours - paint pots are definitely not enough to keep my shadows from creasing. Actually, sometimes my Two Faced Shadow Insurance isn't enough. So annoying!

  21. the pains sometimes of just applying an eye shadow! The bottom of our eyes have problems, our lids have problems. I envy women who do not have a natural crease under their eyes and some women never wear primer without any issues, LUCKY!!
Guess we are in category 2 lol

  22. right now i am refusing to buy any more mascara because i want to stick with one at a time! i am using prestige which i love but i am bored with it haha. i want to get MUF smokey again. or maybe try that chanel one jessica loves!

    ReplyDelete
  23. ahh im using the prestige one too! it lasts forever! the one Jessica that was my 2011 BEST MASCARA, Inimitable Intense! Once im done with ALL my back up mascaras which are all un open im running to the Chanel counter. I love that one too! Best I have tried along with Lancome Hypnose!

  24. I'm pretty sure there are products I've attempted to use that don't work, I just like to block it out of my head or I have already thrown it out (when I moved lol).

    ReplyDelete
  25. i try that!!!! i put it away for *later* these are all older products its now later and its not working!!! lol I see you are so good with some of your products. Your BB cream, face kit, brow pencil, and Birthday Suit seem like some of your staples!

  26. I agree, i think the paint pots are a waste unless you use them everyday; i had painterly and used it everyday as a base, and even that dried up with 1/4 of the product still left. x

  27. I personally only have one paint pot and it's Blackground, I use it as a base for when I'm doing smokey eyes and even then, I still need to put UDPP or Too Faced Shadow Insurance underneath the paint pot because it tends to crease on me too! I had such high hopes for it :(

  28. I think the one thing I can't stand is bad mascara! Bad lashes are really upsetting, so I'll immediately open a new tube if the current sample isn't working. I have so many samples to dig through I'm pretty sure I won't be able to 'buy' a tube of mascara for at least 1-2 years, sigh!

  29. I am so sad to hear the that beautymaker concealer did not work for you! It is my holy grail too, and I actually put it aside so I won't use it too quickly. Right now I am using the Garnier anti-dark circle roller (the one that is capable of concealing), and I like it very much too! It is definitely not creamy, but dries to a light feeling (if you know what i mean) and still doesn't accentuate fine lines etc.

  30. I've never done a blog sale before and I never plan to because it seems like a lot of trouble and hidden costs that add up. Not giving myself the option of selling unused makeup makes me more determined to actually use up what I have before it all goes bad :)

  31. yes the PP can get quite dry after a while and since it takes so long to fin, it is bound to get dry. I don't think i would buy any more i have avoided then for years

    ReplyDelete
  32. awwww that is too bad i have 3 PP? but Bare study is the only one i ever use, the other two just gather dust :(

    ReplyDelete
  33. really???? hahaha me 2. I dont open alot of samples even though i have a billion, i just open one forever! i use it like 2x a week MAX lol i wish i had long nice lashes but mine suck so with or w/o mascara they look the same. It's the one thing in my routine i skip all the time lol
Long lashes are SUPER nice though if you have them!

  34. awwww im glad this works for you!!! just not me boo
OMG after i wrote this post i got out the Garnier BB roll on I purchased in Asia and used it. I like it ALOT better! who knew! Way to go Garnier. I will use the Garnier for now and maybe go back to this, but really i just want to get through my entire stash, and give everything a good try at least!!

  35. completely agree! paint pots take FOREVER to finish ... i don't know any other beauty blogger who has hit pan/pot. i think MAC should make more smaller (and cheaper!) pots ... because paint pots usually end up drying out before i can finish it.
