The Love Hate Relationship

The gorgeous shoes in your closet that are far too high for walking past 3 steps out your front door.
That perfect pair of skinny jeans, 10 lbs ago...
That "cool" neon blue eye shadow you loved and rocked everyday in 6th grade
The delicious flakey buttery pastry you see in the bakery window after your intense gym workout

The love hate relationship
Everyone has them. You love it, you hate it, when you have it, you're so happy! but after it's like uggghhh why did I do that?

Yes ladies, it's time for me to share my love hates of make up

1. Chanel Nail Polish

The price, ouch. The shimmer, un parallel and subtle while still being unique and divine. The shade range glorious. The classic logo, that looks gorgeous on your dresser. Yes, all these add to the whole experience of owning a Chanel polish. You apply it and you feel so fancy! then it begins to chip at you. Literally. Chip, chip, chip, CHIP. After about 2 days you have just mere residual polish that looked so beautiful just a few mere days prior. Re do after just two days?? I am far too lazy for that, far too busy for that, and for $26 dollars did not expect that.

2. Loreal Voluminous
Thick, voluminous, SUPER black lashes at a drugstore price, and said to be a YSL dupe? YES PLEASE!until, the rubbing starts. The constant eye rubbing which leads to constant flaking of mascara, which leads to panda eyes, yes ladies, I seem to have eye irritations to this one :(

3. Milani Liqify Liners
Pigmented, smooth, easy to apply, drugstore, yes yes yes! Fast foward 15 minutes and my world is in a literal BLURR. I stare in the mirror to see my contact lenses are all smudged! full of liner. This liner seems to really STICK on my contacts and causes me to just become blind and blurry.
*sigh* very sad about this one...finding the perfect liner is the ultimate dream, am I wrong??

4.MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural

A powder that dosent look flat but gives a glow? Minerals? easy to apply and looks natural. This is sounding like all the right descriptions I need to run for this powder. But the ingredients...Bismuth.Oxychloride. The bain ingredient in so many products to give that glowy soft focus effect *cough cough Laura Mercier Mineral Powder* is a straight path to deep painful cystic acne that can takes months to recover from. Not worth the pain, even though this one is a beauty...

5. Tarte Lip Surgance

LipSurgence&#153 Natural Lip Tint
Glossy, pretty colors, quirky packagin, natural, nicely scented? Got to give this a try!!! To dry and chapped lips town! I still use my one sample Tarte lip surgance sparingly not because it is precious but because I want to use it up! Everytime I use this I have to SLATHER on lip balm or my lips become heavily chapped and painful , really surprised about this one...

6. Guerlain Meterorites Light Diffusing Primer

Meteorites Light-Diffusing Perfecting Primer

This is Guerlain, who dosent want a little Guerlain in their life? The packaging is gorgeous, the little pink beads that float in some kind of hold all products in place liquid is just cool looking, it applies sheerly and feels light on the skin. The price is a cringer, but I requested this as a gift and guess what...
Clogged pores and mini spot city! I have no idea why...I just know if I use this for a few days I get congested spots...nooo why...not Guerlain...not you too

So those are a few of the items in my collections to which I have a love hate relationship with. These ends up at friends houses or blog sales, and I part ways with them in my collection

How about you, do you have any love hate relationships?

  1. I agree with the Chanel polish! Plus the brush is just too flimsy! Shame.

  2. I absolutely loved the intro of this post!!! :) Kinda sad that you have a love/hate relationship with Voluminous and MSFN - two of my most favorite products :/ I used to absolutely love Milani Liquif'eye liners (and even talked smack about UD ones after trying the Liquif'eyes) but they have also stopped working for me. They get smudged within 30 min of application. This was never the case before, I don't know how the heck it's even possible. Btw I adore the hands catch all dish in the background - cuteeeee!

  3. Haha, I loved the intro to the post too! I'm pretty sure the same thing happens to me too with Bismuth Oxychloride. The Bare escentuals line made me break out for a long time until I realized that it wasn't me, it was the 'natural mineral makeup' that's supposed to be good for people with breakouts.

  4. The Milani Liquif-eye is definitely a love-hate for me. I don't wear contacts, but I too get the blurred vision. So weird! Voluminous is oh-so lovely (I don't touch my eyes much), but it's too much work to clean the wand before applying and it never (never ever ever ever ever) holds a curl.

  5. great post!! i have a love-hate relationship with so many goodies ... still on the hunt for the perfect spf 30 moisturiser. i know i should be wearing one but their so icky and all leave a white residue. the amount of time, effort let alone money i have spent looking for the perfect protective moisturiser ... i could've planned a mini holiday. ahhh ...the hunt continues.

  8. hehehehe thank you!!! i know the MSFN and the mascara are beautiful and wonderful, thats why I love them!!!!
Ack maybe Milani has changed their formula??? I wish it would work on me, it was so SMOOTH and dark! it was love at first swipe!

  9. Thank you! hehehe!
I know me and u girl are the I hate BO girls HAHAHA i guess that can be taken 2 ways. I purchased BM Matte during the FF sale, but have yet to use it. It is BM but without that ingredient in it, if you are willing to chance it. My favorite mineral powder is from Lancome and it does contain that ingredient but it is one of the may contain plus/minus then lists it. If it's there I can wear the product but not if it's one of the main ingredients ;\
i know how u feel!!! cystic acne city blows!

  10. hmmm the milani eyeliners seem to be hit or miss! glad i was not alone in that! Yes Voluminous was so wonderful for the few hours it was worn on my eyes. Maybe I can wear it at night and when it starts smudging i can claim a smokey eye? lol

  11. ohhh good luck!!!! i have a few favorite sunscreens and moisturizers but not one with a combination...if you ever find it, plz do tell!! i would gladly try it!

  12. hahahaha agreed about everything!!!! I can see why you love it! At least u know u were not suffering alone!!

  13. I have a love-hate relationship with L'Oreal Voluminous as well. I love the look of it on but it takes like ... 15 wipes spread over 5 cotton buds to get it off. Then I still have raccoon eyes and black all over my face. It's sad because it looks amazing on. Totally not worth the trouble taking it off - I gave up on it.

I was thinking of getting the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish natural but now that you're saying it gives you acne, I might reconsider. My skin is quite sensitive and acne prone at the same time.

  14. i totally agreee. breakouts are soo T.T There are some products that i absolutely love & adore but give me break outs so I can't use them T_T I wonder if the MSF Natural breaks me out also xD must investigate but at least this quelled my lemming for the guerlain primer ^^

  15. Thanks for doing this post - i'd like to read more of these! It's the first time i've read about the eyeliner/contact lens problem which i suffer from too :-( Just wanted to say stay away from Avon Mega Impact & Supershock (pixiwoo sisters love those eyeliners) - they work brilliantly but stick all over contacts too. Beautysauce.com MU artist says it may be due to the oil in the ingredients and that Clinique is a good one to try.

  16. Very interesting post! I haven't tried any products you mention, though now I know I need to double-check if I want to buy them! Hmmm, I have a love-hate relationship with Creme d'Nude lipstick. I've came to love its colour but it's so ruined and mushy inside the lipstick bullet, yuk...

  17. hmm yes if you look on make up alley, whoever dosent love it broke out! so ur either in love or hate this product. Im in the love hate situation! the ingredient is something to look out for if you are acne prone like myself

  18. hahaha at least I saved you $70 for the primer. Yes the powder broke me out BADLY i had cysts for months after only three to four days of use :(

  19. oh no!!! i TOTALLY wanted to try Avon supershock dang!!! thanks for the tip! i have one clinique liner which does not irritate my eyes, none ever did before milani but the clinique did not stay on very long :(

  20. OMG I am EXACTLY the same for #1-4! I can't stand how bloggers rave about Chanel polishes... you know they chip! Voluminous gives me such great lashes, but it always smears by the end of the day. I couldn't pin point why my contacts got so oily and blurry until I found out my Milani liner was the culprit. I would clean my contacts every 15 minutes and would always have to switch it out for a new one. MSFN has a pretty finish, but I get soooo oily. Wish it would last on me! Haven't noticed my lips getting chapped with Lip Surgence, but I havent been paying attention... gotta look out for that one now!
Other love/hate relationships: Naked Palette 1 - great colors, so much fallout! Esp sidecar -_-. Dior Amber Highlight - sometimes makes me look even more powdery. An $$ product should not do that! And MUFE HD translucent powder - white cast!!

  21. Great post! I loved it! It's a big surprise to me that Tarte Lip Surgance dries lips out. I always wanted to get it (it's unavailable in Poland) because it looks so nice, moisturizing and "yummy" online. :)

  22. I totally love the Tarte Lip Surgence. I have two, one of the shimmery ones and a matte one and I love both of them. They don't dry my lips out at all. Weird how two people can have completely different reactions to the same product!

  23. love this post. might have to do something like it because it is such a great idea for a post! shame that MSFN didnt work for you, i really like it but it isnt good at oil control so it is a no-no in the summer. it works great as a bronzer though! and despite your discouraging words on the chanel polish i still (very badly) want to get black pearl :X

  24. An interesting post!! I'd definitely have a few on this list.. The Mac skinfinish powder is a permanent hate for me unfortunately!

    ReplyDelete
  25. yes i love it at first its so glossy and amazing colors but for some reason they totally chap my lips out!!! i think i have heard mixed reviews on this so it may be dependent on the person but dang..so nice i thought it was love

    ReplyDelete
  26. oh so lucky! these are so CUTE and glossy and i love the shades but the effects are a real ouch to my lips :(

    ReplyDelete
