Routines R Us - February Favorites

30 days, for 30 days I have stuck with my "look" ok wknds a little less or nothing at all… but
I guess these are my "Favorites" of the month but they are all items in heavy rotation

MUFE F+B: Full review can be found here. My current go to base. Light, dewy, great color match, pretty good longevity, easy (not pictured)
The Dark house making it's way into my everyday routine is the new NARS Tinted Moisturizer (reviewing coming soon, I am still playing with this)
I have been going back and forth between the two and they are quite different to me!

I am also now trying the Garnier eye roll on and a Becca concealer. Chanel loose powder is always used now.

Brozer is still Edward Bess, big fat brush, and swiping it all ova!
Blusher has been non stop Well Dressed, Well Dressed, Well Dressed! I only wear it in the winter, but I am making this horse work. I have noticed with the coloring of the MUFE foundation and the pale coloring of this blush the combo makes me look, well even more pale, so I have been lightly dusting a sheer brushing of NARS O to my apples.
No By Candle light *shock horror*, I found NARS O looks better with golden highlighters so Soft and Gentle has been taking the stage
Take a big round brush and blend all the powders like crazy!! I need it to be sheer and edgeless
Eyes, boring. Mac's Bare Study + Lorac's Moonstone. Both hit pan, both are non moving from that status. Luckily I love them.
Moonstone I wear on the lid, under the eye, on the brow bone, and in my inner corner. Yeah basically all over!
Brows are still the same products with the new addition of Benefit's speed brow. Been liking this quick fix and light tint!
I have been playing with pencil liners for my daily kitten flick and the search continues for the proper one which can last all day
Waterline is still going strong with MAC's NC15/NW20 Chronographic pencil
*Mini Rant* All the Mac pencils I have been carrying around, have had all their caps CRACK. Poor cap quality, and since they cracked the opening has become larger meaning whenever I cap my pencils all the way I lose the point of the pencil hence sharpening constantly! Now I don't close the cap right away, but they need to fix that little problem…
Lips is still ongoing with NARS Dolce Vita lipstick topped with MAC's Miss Marble from I don't even remember what collection. It's old, but still vanilla scented, and the perfect topper to finish my look.
Douse myself with Fix +, fan frantically, and walk out looking *ahem* naturally effortless!
Now, I'm going to let you girls in on two secrets.
1. The reason why I have been using this routine so consistantly outside the obvious time savings is I am attempting *hard* to finish some make up products in my collection
Seeing pan is motivating I think!!
2. Whenever I post these "What I am using now" I usually change the ENTIRE routine the next day because I've obviously been using it for a while and like to rotate, but I am going to hold on a bit longer.
I want to rotate, but cleansing is good for the collection!
I want to finish these products off before moving on, because I KNOW if I change now, they won't be finished for months instead of a few more weeks!
Learning discipline and once finally finished, I can be satisfied moving on!!
Do you guys hold on to routines? For how long?

  3. excited for your review on the NARS tinted moisturizer.. i will be picking a new one out soon! I was thinking bobbi brown, OR Dior, OR Laura Mercier. LOL
I know a few years ago some MAC lipglasses caps were cracking and it was a FLAW in their products and I think they were replacing them for people..
It might be worth calling your store and telling them your issue!

  4. So much pan! I try to make myself use things up to get rid of the products but I end up forcing myself to use bleh products so I remain with the ones I love... which doesn't make much sense if you think about it :( Can't wait to see what you think about the Nars TM!

  5. You have so much discipline! I barely ever hit pan on anything any more because I just use whatever I want, whenever I want to use it. That usually means something different at least every few days :-/ I can't wait to read your review on the NARS TM...which shade do you have?

  6. Haha I love the title of this post. Well dressed does look really pretty--- I can imagine it highlighted with a little NARS O like you mentioned! I hold on to routines for maybe a couple weeks at a time. Inevitably I get to a point where the routine just doesn't feel right and I have to change my colors. If I don't change to what I feel like, it puts me in a bad mood! Therefore, I doubt I could actually finish any product :)

Bobbi Browns TM on me was too hydrating, so was Dior, the LM oil free broke me out (go figure) lol

  15. so impressive. i wish i could stay in routines like you, that seems to be the best way to use up products. i love having different options on blush. but i really wish i could stick to one and use it up. my blush collection is crazy.

  20. more than routines, I have 'go-to' looks.
you know, for those days I wake up with 5 minutes to look presentable.. [=

ps. I've been curious about the NARS tinted moisturizer.. how do you feel it's different from MUFE face & body?

  21. oh boy I should probably have a monthly routine too so i can eliminate some products! (then go out and replace it with something else LOL) look forward to seeing a review on the nars tinted moisteriser!

  22. Fabulous products. I admire your discipline in trying to use them up, way too often I forget just how much makeup I have (a collection which only seems to increase with time!).

  23. My routines last a long time, but I'll usually change up a product or two (most often a mascara or blush) just so several different things get used... I have just about ZERO hope of hitting pan as you have! Commendable ;)

    ReplyDelete
  24. i feel the same, not AS guilty hehe

    ReplyDelete
  25. ah i had some go to looks also but been trying hard to be consistant!
the nars is thicker, has more coverage, and is more hydrating

  29. I definitely hold on to routines...sometimes weeks at a time. I remember last summer there were like three weeks where I used the same products over and over and over. It makes life so simple. Plus, they were all budge-proof (much need in the July/Aug humidity). I have been changing it up quite a bit daily, but I usually have a weekly routine, changing only lip color.

  30. it does save alot of time!! esp in summer but i understand need for change! esp with such beautiful collections @ the disposal! and i loooooooooooove all ur FOTD's for the blog but im sure for day to day you have your ready set face! :)
