I recently featured my desk clean up ( that was a job so big it needed a post)
I will now feature my next clean up attempt. Same desk! Drawer 1.
My "Go To" Make up drawer. The things I love to use when the everyday items are not cutting it.
Unfortunately, my drawer was in quite a state...
This will not do...I like all these products but I definetly dont reach for nearly half of them. It's time to cut out some of the excess and bring in some of my ultimate current favorites, especially for spring
Now this is more like it!
If for whatever reason my house caught on fire, and my make up all burned but this drawer miraculously survived, I would be more than fine
I know it looks like quite a bit to "be fine" but hey! this is progress!
I now have enough space to stick in some nightly skin are items, and you may have noticed a few boxes in there of brand new products to remind myself when I am done with what I am currently using, I have something waiting :)
Inspiration for a 1 neat everything I love drawer comes from this video

How do you organize your favorites?

Hi J---- I saw the picture of the 'disaster' drawer and thought hey, that looks like the organized version of mine :P I'm impressed that you took a neat drawer and were able to make it even more neat!
ReplyDeleteREALLY?????? when i picture your drawer i picture a pristine and immaculate set up without a speck of dust for some reason! lol
ReplyDeleteI am not a neat freak but but i just have my own limits lol
Very lovely! A piece of makeup heaven right there ;) I use drawer organizers, baskets and some rubbermaid things. I should do a video or something but still feel like I need to get more organized before I can do that properly- but I really like the way you have yours laid out.
ReplyDeleteo thank you! if u did a video id press PLAY so fast!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe before picture wasn't as bad as I thought from your description! I think it was very neat. But the after looks great :D
ReplyDeleteLooks like you chucked a lot of items? I have to go through my older makeup products as well...
aw thanks! it seems everyone thinks the "before" was not so bad but i thought it was!!! lol no i did not chuck them i just put them away in some drawers to not see them for a while and focus on what i love for a while. Once the seasons change I will prob rotate some products
ReplyDeletewhoa so many highlighters! but i know your style, you like the glow :) did you do a highlighter collection post? i feel like you did something with a lot of your highlighters...but i dont know if it was a collection post per say.
ReplyDeletehaha it's half highlighters half my 2nd favorite nars blushes! lol I have a highlighter post, i like to post them but theyre hard to swatch for the camera!
ReplyDeletehttp://tinyladylife.blogspot.com/2012/02/highlighters-my-favorites-and-least.html
ah yes this is the post i was thinking of!
ReplyDeleteyay!!! i want to add the jemma kidd to my collection but my favorites are Becca's shimmering skin, Laura Mercier's, and MAC's By Candle light, my collection is all over the place i have to rem where everything is!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with the majority, the disaster drawer is not so much of a disaster. But I know what you mean, we all have our limit of how much disorganization we can tolerate. I wish my drawer looked like that on a good day. It always starts of neat and then slowly deteriorates into a war zone. You need to tell me your secret of using up all those products.
ReplyDeletehahaha i guess it was more serious to me than anyone else!
ReplyDeleteHmm I dont use up many make up products i think ( esp powder, wow theyre slow to finish) but i usually create 1 routine per season and try to use those items give or take every day. If it's a special night out or something i will change or if I get a lil tired I will switch something for another item in this drawer but i usually go back
I try not to use alot of my collection at once. Only a fraction and really USE IT, then just move on to something else once it's done. Most of my collection remains brand new in boxes waiting for me to one day expose them to air
I wrote a post on how I finish my lip products, I usually follow the same routine with most of my collection and try not to open too many things at once
Hope that helps! xo!
My collection has also been in such a state, but I've cut way, way down! I hope to get rid of items that aren't cruelty-free on my birthday (in June, it is going to be literally painful to get rid of my L'oreal infallible and Giorgio Armani ETK shadows) and then anything not vegan (with the exception of palettes that contain a few vegan shades (Sugarpill and Urban Decay))... I won't lie, part of the reason I'm veganizing my collection is just to rein it in! Your organization is lovely :)
ReplyDeleteI second that!
ReplyDeletei think it is pretty A M A zing you are so instilled in your personal beliefs and you can bring them into more facets of your life! Hats off to you lady!
ReplyDeleteThat drawer is so droolworthy.... I love how you have a lot but not a lot of makeup... if that makes sense at all. Great variety of brands and types of products :D New stuff space is dangerous!! It makes you want to buy new goodies :P
ReplyDeletethank you! i know what you mean!!! These are all my warm weather favorites!
ReplyDeletethe new stuff space is not shown in the picture but has some stuff in it! lol all in plastic wrapping stuff i really want to use but will wait until i finish some open items first!!
wow you are so organised!! I like to organise mine in muji boxes.. I think it's a lot cleaner these days haha
ReplyDeletethank you!!1 so far all i have cleaned is my desk so im not sure how organized i am considering the rest of the room needs to be tackled! lol
ReplyDeleteah i love those muji boxes but muji is quite expensive here!
:) i hope you never have to resort to grabbing the drawer in the midst of a fire but I love how organized you are. My fave slot is the one for "new stuff space" ! :)
ReplyDeletehahahaha sad to say, it did not fit in the picture but there is already some new stuff in there! lol all from the past FF sale from Sephora and all still in their plastic and boxes. The things im dying to use but will wait until i fin some current stuff first!
ReplyDeletei hope that fire situation never happs either! maybe i should buy some fire proof material and only put it on this one area of my bedroom...
ahh! can't wait to see some of the products you picked for the warmer seasons then :]
ReplyDeleteI clean out my makeup drawers quite often, I hate when I find products that are lying in my drawers for nothing. although i'm a blogger I don't keep products I don't use.
ReplyDeleteI love makeup storage videos, and especially seeing the mess people have. Mess is great! I have drawers chock full of makeup that I haven't used in a while... makes me feel guilty whenever I do a reorganisation. All temptations of going on a ginormous beauty spending spree is then curbed!
ReplyDeletei actually do my makeup on my study desk table, i have all the products- skincare and makeup in this box from clinique gwp and put all that i need for this current rotation in it... saves so much time in the morns! love your collection! btw, with eyeshadows and eyeliners- do you discard them after a certain time i.e. 6 months as recommended on the packaging or do you still keep on using it? i can never finish anything within the recommended period... sighs.
ReplyDeleteI really need to reorganize my makeup - it's getting a little out of hand! This is the motivation I need! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy makeup drawer *usually* looks like this. But now with the stresses of work and school my stuff is all over the place. And in multiple rooms. Nightmare. I can't wait to get organized again!
ReplyDeleteyou are very well organized! in fact i'm impressed :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome organization! Love the lauduree box. I lovee when everything has its own place, it makes it so much easier
ReplyDeleteLOL i thought your 'disaster' drawer looked pretty tidy hehe >.<
ReplyDeleteat the moment everything is all in one drawer, i am still on the hunt for some acrylic dividers - but they're so hard to find!
love the organization! haha I love organizing my makeup whenever I have time. I think its really fun. haha
ReplyDeleteI recently purchased some clear organizers and dividers to put in the drawers for makeup from The Container Store. I have not gotten around to set everything up yet. Right now, all my makeup is stacked and pushed together in the drawers. Not the best way because I have to remove layers to get to the bottom and the stacks fall down all the time.
ReplyDeleteI have wooden wine presentation boxes for each product for longer term storage. For products in current but not daily use I have a wooden tuck box (read up your Mallory Towers for an explanation) Products in daily use are in a box in my bathroom.
ReplyDeleteThis system, along with laying out clothes and sorting out of handbag the previous night etc, is how I get up and leave the house 25 minutes later including a shower and pig feeding.
