It happens to many beauty bloggers I think.
It can hit a make up enthusiasts, or a person who just gets sent loads of free products.
Sometimes when building your collection you start to notice you have a few colors that are similar. Then you start having a family of common shades. Then you progress and learn of your own make up style and understand what you love and works for you, then you go out searching for the PERFECT shade of it's kind.
(Or maybe that's just me)
Then... you start seeing patterns.
New collections, palettes, seasons, items come out and you realize you own so many things that look the same, or notice palettes where you already own half the shades, so do you need it?
I only went to Nordstrom to buy toner (who goes there to just buy toner?)
This was my intent.
But after meeting a delightful SA at the LMdB counter and chatting, and even letting her do my makeup – which was a first for me!
I walked out with a Kaleidoscope.
Not 1 shadow
Now, it wouldn’t be so bad if I stopped myself at the time because I KNEW I owned something very similar. I was entangled in conversation and in love with a particular shade that I left the counter without it (strong) walked out of the store, walked about 20 paces, just to turn back around and walked back in. NOOO.
I walked out with this beauty.
Let’s stare for a moment.
Now, let’s see the reason for return.
I never even swatch ed it because I realized my choice and did not want to ruin the good any more than necessary.
The Smash box Photo Op Eye Palette for Brown Eyes
Honestly, I don’t reach for this as often as I should but I do enjoy several of the shades in this palette, and use Bark very regularly!
Do you see it…
Ok, the blue shade is different and can be pushing it, and would have been the color I used the least, but I could not believe they all came in the same palette.
I knew, I couldn’t keep the LMdB palette because I already owned this one.
It was too expensive to keep if I had something like this already in my collection so I returned it.
The good news is, for those who wanted this palette, the Smashbox version is a cheaper alternative but the LMdB is better quality in case you feel like treating yourself!
Also, it's quite a good indication for those of you who have the extra pennies to spare, that this palette would be quite flattering on brown eyes.
Individual shots of the LMdB – no swatches, I apologize but I did not want to swatch and return.
I am coming to a point in my collection where having 100000000 shades of brown is not as appealing to me as it once was
( I never did find that perfect shade) and keep repeating in my mind to keep my collection as the Product Doctor calls it “Well Edited”
Do you buy dupes and repeat loves in your collection, or do your return?
I will be hosting a blog sale this coming Sunday October 7th beginning at 6 PM Eastern Time
Please do come have a look if anything interests you.
