Short Tip #7

I’m going to share a secret with you ladies.
A way to save you time in the morning, using your products to a higher capacity by introducing a new way to use what you already reach for daily.

Using your cheek colors, on your eyes.

In the mornings if I wear any shadows it’s usually in some cream form. Most of the time they have very little to no color, just attempting to create the effect of looking less tired and giving them a morning pick me up.
This tends to act as my “primer” if you don’t have time for this step, concealer works in a pinch.

A trick I learned and started to incorporate in my daily routine is to take my blush or bronzer and sweep them over my lids with a fluffy brush.
Not only will this automatically go with the colors already used on your face, but it makes everything come together in a few easy swipes! I’m a lip balm girl in the morning so this is makes me all set!

Colors I love using this trick in particular with are Rimmel’s Santa Rose, MAC’s Tenderling, NARS Laguna (any bronzer will give the same effect), and have even gone as far as using NARS O! It doesn’t look weird so long as the wash is sheer, and really does help add some additional dimension to your look pulling everything together.
Blush, bronzer, highlighter – it all works!

It doesn’t have to just be across the lid, highlighter in the inner corner and brown bone, bronzer in the crease or as a liner, play with it!

NARS Madly comes to mind as a wonderful candidate, maybe I’ll try that tomorrow!

Experiment and try find your new favorite 2:1 product! You will see how fast and simple this little step is.

  1. Something I've never thought of. But I guess that's because I always think pink eyeshadow is more for editorial looks than everyday wear. Bronzer sounds much more appealing though! May have to give it a try soon :D

  2. Hi J,

Great tip! I've seen a couple makeup artists do the sweep of blush on eyelids trick; I think it does add a nice cohesiveness to the look (and it's easy too!)

  6. When I put on blush, I brush a little of what's left on the brush over my eyes and the bridge of my nose. I think it really ties the look together, even if you use other shadows! I also use my bronzer to finish off any eye looks -- it adds a natural-looking depth to your eye.

  7. I love you short tip posts :) this is a great idea. I occasionally contour my eye with my matte bronzers but never tried blush. Will give it a go soon. Side note - how do you enjoy the 224? I really need a fluffy eye brush and have been looking at MAC

  8. Ooooh. I've never tried applying my blush to my eyes.. I have used bronzer though. Yes, it does add some oomph to your daily look, especially when you're in a hurry. What I normally do is add some cream highlighter on the eyelid and inner corner when I need something extra..Otherwise, I skip any additional steps coz I'm so lazy. Haha

  11. It's funny because as soon as I read "use cheek color on eyes" I instantly thought of Tenderling! Probably Tarte Exposed and NARS Madly too. I'm totally trying this tomorrow. Great tip! :)

  12. I do the Sweep-across-the-lids with a fluffy brush routine too. Super easy way to apply makeup in a hurried morning. Cute blog. I followed, by the way. You don't have to come to my blog, but I'd appreciate it if you do.
