The Essentials for a Month

It's FINALLY happening people, this house move I keep mentioning is coming Monday and I am...SEMI packed and ready!

I'm quite excited for the move, but with the realization of having no current vanity (needs to be purchased) and more important house purchases to be made, it may be a while until I receive a little space to apply my daily slap.

In preparation of all my make up goodies being stored in a box until a permanent solution is purchased, I have gathered together my current favorites in a convenient make up bag. My "All the Stuff I need to look human is here" bag.
Will be making sure not to lose this on the move!

A peek at the contents of my current favorites:

Fresh High Noon which is a tinted primer I mix with my Clarins Sunscreen (new LOVE and worth the hype). I'm losing my tan quickly but I know this is on it's last legs and want to use up this darker than my skin shade before I become too pale for it.
NARS Translucent Crystal powder to set the very glowy finish the Fresh product delivers.
Jo Malone Nectarine and Honey Blossom cologne which is my favorite scent ever.
Chanel Terre Ambre Bronzer which is a bit dark but goes with the Fresh Primer well.
Marc Jacobs Lola being my new must have orange red. Might I add, the only orange red that doesn't make my hands look like an old granny who has retired to Boca Raton.
Bobbi Brown Gel liner in Caviar ink for my tight line. Mac's Brule, Wedge, Print, and Lorac Moonstone - these four shades are more than I need for my lifestyle. Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Bronze which can't seem to leave my side, Shu Curlers and my very loved Mason Pearson.

Anastasia's Brow Whiz in Soft Brown being no longer the best match for my current hair color being cooled down with Sonia Kashuk's tinted brow gel (drugstore gem). NARS concealers for both the face and under eyes, YSL Shocking mascara, and my new favorite lip product of the moment, NARS Satin Lip Pencil is Isola Bella. I don't speak about lip products much because I'm not as interested in them but this one MWAH! What a shade! It looks more brown swatched but on my lips it is the most opaque peachy nude that seems to go with every look I pair it with. New pocket book must have!

So that's it! All my current must haves as we shop to make our house a home.
Stay tuned if you would like to see some home updates! :)

A Week in my Wardrobe - Autumn 2013

The best to dress season is now upon us! As we go through what the news refers to as "transitional weather" it means everything goes!
People wearing shorts and scarves next to others wearing a full length jackets and booties.
Layering, scarves, hats, boots all come out and the colors are changing for the holidays.

Here is a glimpse into my five day fall wardrobe.

COLOR! I'm trying to introduce color into my life before winter hits and all I wear is black. It's inevitable.
Sweater: French Connection, Jacket: Korea, Bag: Rebecca Minkoff, Jeans: BDG

Sweater: H&M, T: BDG, Necklace: House of Harlow, Jeans: BDG

Surprisingly buses have amazing lighting
Snood: H&M, Jacket: Urban Outfitters, T: BDG,

As do libraries...
Sweater: Korea, T: BDG

Black is back but a touch of color is added!
Jacket: ZARA, Jeans: BDG, Beanie: H&M

Anyone else trying to change up their wardrobe for fall?

Bobbi Brown's Shimmer Brick in Bronze - A New Staple

There are very few products in my collection that I have ever actually repurchased. With a collection of dupes and a market constantly bringing out improved formulas and hard to believe claims, it's hard to have a few main stay products - well I think I found one!

I have found a product I don't think I can really be without in my collection, and no it not new it's actually a cult classic.

Bobbi Brown's Shimmer Brick in Bronze

It took me a while to get into Bobbi's line. I have dabbled more into Bobbi's products over the last year or so but this hidden gem of a product I had always bypassed. Looked too shimmery to be a bronzer, and too dark to be a highlight, but my mom actually had this in her collection unloved for quite some time and I "borrowed" it one day and it hasn't left my clutches since!

I have used this nearly every single day for several months and do not see myself tiring from it's beautiful effects anytime soon. Winter is all about matte skin to many, but I really don't care, this is too pretty!

You can see it's quite well loved

How I use it:
I use this every single day on top of my blush. Not on my cheekbones alone as a mere highlight but I actually layer this smack dab on top of whatever blush I am wearing. I'm all about the cheeks and having a slightly more healthy look to my skin. Not only does this add a bit of sheen but the warm colors just liven up any blush color I am wearing to make me look instantly a bit more lively.
The bronze shade works beautifully with my warm toned skin to make all the blush shades instantly complimentary.

Pink blush, peach blush, cream blush, gel blush - I layer it on top of everything and the result is always perfection.

With this method of layering the two products I look like I already have warmth to my skin so I feel no need for a bronzer step. The layering of the two products in sheer layers seems to also add to the longevity of the duo. As a highlight alone I found this to not be very long lasting but over my blush it goes strong well over nine hours. The shimmer fades but the warmth of the blush combination remains.

I have used this on occasion as a bronzer and it works!
I know it looks like a shimmer fest to apply all over but it really does not show as shimmer on the face. The pigment in the darker colors are strong enough to give a bronzer look and the product has more of a healthy sheen all over so you look sun kissed with no hint of orange.

Sometimes I will layer this product over my blush and whatever remains are on the blush I dab on the forehead and around the nose. This gives my whole complexion a more uniform warmth.

You can't be a matte bronzer fan to try this but the pigment of the darker shades are actually quite strong and buildable. You can develop quite a deep tan with this product and you do not look crazy when applied all over. With a light hand you get an overall warmth and a slight sheen in the sun.
Those with a fairer skin tone can also just stick to the top shades for a lighter color, and those with more of a deep tone can concentrate on the lower shades for a more intense bronzer shade.

Bobbi really captured the shimmer particles right. Layered it can be stupendous as a more obvious highlight but depending on how heavy handed you are this can be a beautiful bronzer along with cheek color.

My mom had used this product for a couple of years and loved to alternate through the shades to use as eye shadows - another plus for this multi purposed product.
Having this product on your eyes and face can really help bring a look together and less of a need to carry around a large amount of products in your make up bag.

So there it is, my ramble along with praise on the cult beauty classic.
I will be purchasing a fresh new shimmer brick for my collection so I can finally give back my mom hers!
So it's all mine! :)

Scarf Organization - Volume II

Pinterest strikes again!
While (still packaging) and re organizing my items for my new home I got a bit tired of my old scarf organization when attempting to clear out my closet. I saw an easy DIY idea on Pinterest and in a few minutes created something similar to what I formerly had but prefer the newer version.

You will need a strong hanger and some shower curtain hooks.
The stronger hanger as opposed to plastic will help hold it's shape to all the weight of the scarves. The shower hooks you can buy in either plastic or metal, I chose metal.

It's so simple!
Just open up the hooks and add them to the hanger.

Scoop in your favorite scarves

...and voila!

Depending on your collection you can organize your scarves by fabrics/materials/colors/seasons - whatever you wish!

Hope this simple under five minute DIY helped a few of you get an idea on a easy way to help organize your closet!

Base Jumping!

It's a mighty strange thing for me, my new obsession, it's just not..ME, but I confess...
"I am currently totally obsessed and infatuated with make up bases."

I am so not a base is something I wear like once every three to six months-it came to that point! ( Guess you can tell how many times I go to parties!)
Tinted moisturizers and BB creams were also started to become too much, I think because as my skin became more clear and I felt less of a need for products to ruin what was already going on that I was happy with but then...I dug out a foundation for a party and I fell in love (HARD) for it.

Weightless, longevity, perfect color match, natural looking- is this what I have been missing??
Well, you know how I am with beauty...I don't go crazy ( YEAH RIGHT!)
I have been diving deep now into the world of bases and have a nice set of samples on my desk being toyed with as I decide the ultimate winner to soon purchase.

Current Favorite bases which I am rotating between:

NARS Tinted Moisturizer in Alaska-Full review can be found here.
Jemma Kidd's Light as Air Foundation - Discontinued
Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation - will soon no longer be available for the updated "Manifinish" formula.

Current contenders to potentially enter my collection:

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation

Laura Mercier - Silk Creme Foundation

SHOCKER! I would have never in a million years have picked this foundation for myself. High coverage and a thick creme is something I run from, but a baby pea size of this stuff with the right application looks AMAZING.
It actually does not feel as heavy as I had anticipated, and it isn't as high coverage as I imagined-shocked again. It's very high medium coverage and buildable. I imagine a tube will last me years.

Dr. Jart Water Fuse BB Cream

Dr. Jart+ - Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25 PA++

I've tried many BB creams but nothing from Dr Jart who seemed to have taken over the larger part of the higher end BB cream audience in Western markets. Is this one really worth the hype? One way to find out!

YSL Touche Eclat Foundation

Yves Saint Laurent - LE TEINT TOUCHE ÉCLAT Illuminating Foundation SPF 19

I've gone through a few samples of this and love the glowy finish. I heard it's very similar to Revlon's Nearly Naked, if so, I can save myself $40 bucks but having this on your vanity does feel special...
Has anyone tried both?

Armani Luminous Silk

I tried the ever so popular Maestro version by Armani but it's just not for me...the dry oil texture, I mean I JUST got on the liquid foundation I'm eyeing with the ongoing classic of the luminous silk formula. Hyped for years for looking flawless pretty much all the time, the lack of SPF is an added plus to me. This is not something for my daily routine, just night's out.

Now that my obsession is out in full force, please do share your favorite base products!
I'm on the hunt! ROAR!

Finished Products of July-September Video!

Due to my current state of living in what looks like a card board box warehouse, I just did not have the space to create a proper empties post, so I popped up a video to try to save time and get these reviews up!

My phone ran out of space towards the end, thus the abrupt ending so here are the final items that I had finished but did not get a chance to mention in the video.

Nature's Republic Long Lash mascara: An excellent natural looking mascara. Just a bit of color and a tiny bit of length, when you are going for that au natural look. Unfortunately this is the hardest mascara I have ever tried to remove in my life. For such a subtle effect, it sure did have a hold on my lashes.
Would not repurchase.

Clarins Gentle Cleanser: Full review can be found here. My favorite cleanser for daytime. This thing just works for me and keeps my skin quite balanced and normal.
Have repurchased.

Paul and Joe Lipstick #5: Beautiful packaging for a coral shade with gold shimmer. Unfortunately it had a bit too much of a chunky gold shimmer for my taste. I would personally not repurchase but younger women -17/18? may prefer this.
Would not repurchase.

Shiseido Pureness Cleanser: The Shiseido cleansers are all a bit too stripping for me and leave my skin feeling too squeaky clean for my taste, so this is more suited for someone with quite oily skin.
Would not repurchase due to my skin type not matching the demographic.

Sabon Body Scrub in Lemon Mint: Lasted ages and quite a good scrub, I would recommend it but I would not get this again, because I don't find myself scrubbing my body often.
Would not repurchase.

Bare Minerals Volume Mascara: The first time i tried it, it seemed 100% dried out, no opinions on it, because mine was a dud.

Hope you enjoyed a bit of changed pace to these posts!
